“Get Stick Bugged Lol” became a popular bait-and-switch meme where someone would make you expect a completely normal video before suddenly cutting to a dancing stick bug.

The joke exploded across the internet in 2020. People started hiding the dancing insect at the end of videos, links, and other posts, turning it into another version of classic internet bait-and-switch memes.

Its power came from how stupidly unexpected it was. You could be watching something completely serious and, without warning, the stick bug would appear. At that point there was nothing you could do. You had been Stick Bugged.
